Welcome To 2nd Grade

Welcome to 2nd grade! I am so glad you will be a part of our classroom community this year. Throughout the year I will be posting information, websites, podcasts, videos, and photos on my Eboard. Watch my video on how to get to my Eboard or follow the link. It will take you through step by step. By looking through previous posts and images in this blog you can get a taste of what 2nd grade will bel ike! I look forward to working with you this year!

Vowel Combination Video Outline

Part 1:
➢ (close up of me talking to the camera)“Do you know that 2 letters together can make one sound? Well, it’s true! When you’re reading new words, look for these long vowel combinations:
➢ (type out these sounds)
ay ee oa
ai ea ow
➢ (close up of me talking to the camera) “Here is a trick to help you remember these vowel combination sounds! Say the letters, say the picture, and say the sound. Let’s try it!”

Part 2:
➢ (show the vowel combination) “a-y”
➢ (show the picture) “play”
➢ (show the vowel combination) “aaaaa”
➢ Do the same for ai, ee, ea, oa, and ow

Part 3:
➢ (Show two students sitting at the kidney table going through the cards)

Part 4:
➢ (close up of me talking to the camera) “Now it’s your turn to try! Remember to say the letters, say the picture, and say the sound. Ready? Here you go!”
➢ Show each card (play low music in the background)

Part 5:
➢ (close up of me talking to the camera) “Great job! Before long, you won’t need the cards and you’ll be able to think of the vowel combination sounds every time you see them in a word! Thanks for reading with me!”
